Yukon Releases Storm Debris Removal Information

Posted by City of Yukon on 10/28/2020

Curb side removal of debris from the recent ice storm is in progress. The City of Yukon requests that all residents with storm damage to please reduce its size down to less than six feet and neatly stack the storm debris parallel to the street and within ten feet of the curb line to assist in its removal. Additionally, the debris should be several feet away from items such as trash carts, mail boxes, gas meters, and any overhead obstructions.

To accommodate the large amount of storm debris, Yukon Public Works is opening up the land on the southwest corner of Route 66 and Frisco Road (commonly referred to as the “sports park property”) for debris drop off. Once weather and road conditions improve, residents who would like to quickly remove their storm debris are encouraged to transport it to the above mentioned property. At this time there is no cost to dispose of storm damage. Drop off starts this Saturday, and hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., seven days a week. Driver’s license and a copy of your Yukon utility bill will be required for disposal.

We will begin the final pass through town picking up limbs from the recent ice storm beginning Monday, November 30th. We plan to pick up limbs in trash collection day order. This may or may not occur on your normal trash day. Residents are encouraged to get their limbs to the curb before we start picking up on Monday, November 30th. We anticipate moving faster through the routes during this final pass. Residents need to place their storm damaged tree limbs at the curb, parallel to the street, with separation all the way around them from other nearby objects, and no overhead obstacles above them. Please place only tree limbs at the curb as no other items will be picked up.

The final day the drop off site at Frisco Road and Highway 66 will be accepting limbs will be Tuesday, December 15th.

Should you need additional information, please contact the Sanitation Services office at 354-4317 during normal hours of Monday through Friday from 7 am - 4 pm.
