Young Adult Summer Reading Program Begins Soon
Teens are encouraged to participate in “Build a Better World,” the Mabel C. Fry Public Library’s young adult summer library program, from June 8 to July 27. Students entering grades 6 through 12 in Fall of 2017 are invited to read for prizes, as well as come to the library to take part in special events offered on Thursday afternoons throughout the summer.
Sign-ups for the reading portion of the program begin at 10:00 am on June 1. Registrants receive a “Build a Better World” drawstring backpack filled with a reading log, a bookmark, and a free entry to the first prize drawing on June 8. Participants can earn entries into the weekly prize drawings for every hour spent reading. Prize winners are drawn each Thursday through June and July. The more hours participants read, the more prize drawing entries are earned.
Start the summer with flair at the Kick-off Event on Thursday, June 8, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Participants collaborate artistically on a project that will beautify the library all year! There are also opportunities to earn extra prize entries, as well as a ton of giveaways!
Sign-up for the kick-off event is required and can be completed online starting at 10:00 am, Monday, June 1. Registration can be done by visiting www.mabelcfrypubliclibrary.com, by calling 354-8232, by or coming to the library at 1200 Lakeshore Drive.
The events for the young adult summer reading program are always popular and well attended. Advance registration for all other Thursday programs will begin June 8 at 10:00 am and continue all summer long. Space is limited for all events, so be sure to sign up for the Thursday programs early!
