Starting in May, Residential Utility Customers Will be Automatically Enrolled in Ambulance Service
Yukon residential utility customers will automatically be enrolled in a Samaritan EMS CareNet membership, starting this May. This affects all residential customers, all residential rental properties and all multi-living unit facilities. Beginning with the May 31, 2018, utility bill, customers will be charged $3.65 per month for this membership. For those who do not want to participate, they may opt out by Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Otherwise, it will be anticipated that the customer wants to participate, and $3.65 will be added to their bill each month. There will be no further opportunity to opt out until 2019.
Samaritan memberships cover out of pocket medically necessary ambulance expenses, such as insurance co-pays and deductibles. If you do not have a Samaritan membership and receive Samaritan ambulance services, you will be financially responsible for billed charges. All citizens who require medically necessary ambulance services within the Yukon city limits will always be transported regardless of ability to pay. EMSA is another ambulance provider that operates in surrounding communities, but does not service Yukon.
If you do not wish to participate, simply fill out an OPT OUT form, located here, and return it to the City of Yukon Utility Billing Department.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Samaritan EMS at www.samaritanemsok.com or call toll free 844-498-6471.
