Early Literacy Programming Specialist Trisha Knous Poses with Children's Books

The Mabel C. Fry Public Library has received a Ready2Read@Your Library grant, administered by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and Friends of Libraries in Oklahoma and supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the American Rescue Plan Act.  The library has received around $1,500 of preschool materials, designed to enhance pre-reading skills for infants, toddlers and preschoolers and has a grant to purchase $2,000 for early childhood literacy skills development.

Professional storyteller Valerie Kimble came earlier this year and shared a great interactive story time of stories, nursery rhymes, songs, puppets, and more. Kimble is a certified media specialist, who worked at the Pioneer Library System for 13 years and has told stories around the region.

Parents and caregivers are invited to visit the library and learn more about the importance of reading with children to help them learn sounds, increase vocabulary, improve comprehension, and grow to love reading. The library offers early literacy programs on Wednesday mornings.

Please call Trisha Knous with Early Literacy Programming at 405-354-8232 or visit our page, www.mabelcfrypubliclibrary.com, for more information.
