Drop Off Recyclables and Big Trash for Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day, Yukon Sanitation Services is gearing up for the Spring Big Trash Day and Recycling Event on Saturday, April 20, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Residents are encouraged to bring their utility bills to Sanitation Services at 501 Ash Ave. and drop off their big trash and recyclable items.

The accepted recycling items are tires other than tractor, implement, or off-road; appliances/white goods; automotive or ion batteries; e-waste (items with power cords); metals; oils; and antifreeze and hydraulic oils that are free of water. 

Can’t make it on April 20? All residential customers will receive a one-time free curbside bulk pickup during the week of April 22 through April 26. Your bulk pickup will occur on your normal trash day.  Residents may start placing acceptable items at the curb no earlier than 6:00pm on Friday, April 19. Acceptable items must be at the curb no later than 6:00am on the day of your normal trash pickup day. The following items will only be accepted at Sanitation Services on during the Earth Day event on April 20. These items will not be accepted during the curbside bulk pickup.

  • Refrigerators, freezers, or air conditioners (anything that used Freon). Televisions, monitors, tires, batteries of any kind, waste oil or antifreeze from automotive maintenance. These items can be brought to the Recycle Event at 501 Ash (Transfer Station) on Saturday, April 20.
  • Dirt, bricks, rocks, concrete, roofing materials, or uncontained sheetrock.

No hazardous substances will be accepted at either event. These substances include, but are not limited to, acids, caustics, explosives, fertilizer, fuels of any type, pressurized tanks such as propane or helium tanks, paints or solvent, pesticides or poisons, and any pool chemicals. Hazardous substances may be disposed of at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, 1621 S Portland Ave, Oklahoma City.
