395th Army Band to perform at Christmas in the Park
The 395th Army Band, a U.S. Army Reserve unit based in Mustang, is set to take the stage on Saturday December 14 from 6pm to 8pm as a part of Yukon’s Christmas in the Park. Led by Chief Warrant Officer 4 Martin Marks, the band is comprised of several smaller ensembles which enable the unit to cover a wide range of musical styles and genres. Two of those smaller ensembles will perform, offering two different takes on holiday music.
Soldiers of Soul is the unit’s premiere pop group, covering top hits from across the decades with a focus on music that makes you move. However, on December 14, they will use their talents to transform into a holiday jazz ensemble, utilizing their grooving rhythm section and strong horn line. Expect to hear different versions of your favorite holiday tunes.
Street Beats is the unit’s brass band style group. While you’ll typically find them performing more moving rhythms and wandering the area, at Christmas in the Park they’ll stay put on stage. With this group, you’ll hear more traditional holiday carols to go along with the seasonal display being put on by the City of Yukon.
