Mayor's Christmas Essay Contest

The Mayor’s Essay Contest may have been canceled due to COVID, but the Mayor’s Essay Contest for Kids is still a go! The due date for the Essays has been moved to December 14th. The City of Yukon Parks & Recreation Department and Mayor Shelli Selby are encouraging all Yukon Elementary Students to participate in the contest.

The subject for the essay is “If I could get my family any gift for Christmas what would it be and why”. The top 3 winners will be announced at the December 15th Council Meeting.  The essays are judged by only the content. The free contest is open to all Yukon students in grades 1st through 5th. Yukon’s Friends of the Park will be awarding trophies for the top three entries. All participants will be recognized and receive a certificate from Mayor Selby. Please include the student’s name, grade, phone number, email, school, and teacher on each essay. All essays must be hand written. They can be scanned and emailed to [email protected]. They can also be turned into or mailed to the Parks & Recreation Office, 532 W. Main, by 5:00 PM on Monday, December 14th.
