The City of Yukon is proud to host the annual Mayor’s Breakfast, and this year features gubernatorial candidate and former Oklahoma City Mayor, Mick Cornett.
The Mayor’s Breakfast is scheduled for 7:30 am on Friday, April 27, at the Christian Life Center of Yukon’s First United Methodist Church, located at 5th and Elm.
The son of a postal worker and a school teacher, Mick is a 5th generation Oklahoman whose parents taught him early in life the value of public service and encouraged him to work hard and dream big.
After a successful, 20-year career in broadcast journalism, where he served as a reporter, anchor and manager, Mick was elected to the City Council, and later, Oklahoma City Mayor.
Mick has received many accolades as the nation’s most successful Republican mayor, but he is most proud of his work in the continued revitalization and renaissance of Oklahoma City, including the creation of 100,000 new jobs and nearly 10,000 new businesses, maintaining one of the lowest unemployment rates and most diversified economies in the country, and welcoming the NBA to town.
His conservative, Republican leadership has lead the city to 17-straight, on-time balanced budgets, a 15% rainy day fund and the highest bond rating available.
Mick is married to Terri (Walker) Cornett and has three sons and four granddaughters.
Tickets for the Mayor’s Breakfast are $13 per person in advance and $15 per person at the door. Advanced tickets go on sale Monday, April 2, and are available at Yukon City Hall, 500 W. Main St.
