Posted by City of Yukon on 09/16/2020
The City of Yukon received test results today (Wednesday) that confirm a Yukon Community Center employee tested positive for COVID-19. The individual who tested positive last reported to work on September 15. The employee experienced a mild sore throat on September 15 and went to be tested when the sore throat did not go away. The employee is currently recovering at home.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Yukon Community Center will be closed until Monday, September 21, for sanitization. The City is requiring that the infected employee refrain from coming to work for at least 14 days.
The City is closely monitoring the situation and will take necessary actions to protect its residents and employees.
The City of Yukon has taken significant steps to protect clients and staff. These include:
- Mandatory mask wearing of employees that engage with the public, as well as all employees of the Yukon Community Center, Dale Robertson Center, Jackie Cooper Gym and Mabel C. Fry Public Library
- Touchless hand sanitization stations at every building
- Directing staff who are symptomatic of or having COVID-19 to stay home and self-quarantine
The safety and health of our residents and employees is our top priority. The City of Yukon is following medical protocols from national and local health authorities and has implemented staff guidelines in relation to social distancing and hygiene.
