Mabel C. Fry Public Library Set to Reopen, with Limited Service, May 18
The library staff is excited to announce that the Mabel C. Fry Public Library will be open to the public, with limited service, on May 18! In coming up with a plan to reopen the library, every attempt has been made to balance the service needs of the public with the safety needs of the public and the library staff. As we all know, in these uncertain times, things can change day to day.
The library has had great success with curbside pickup, and they are encouraging patrons to continue to use this service, as the number of persons permitted in the library at one time will be limited. Materials can be reserved through the online catalog or by calling the library from 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. When holds are ready for pick up, patrons will be notified and items can be picked up Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the library entrance doors.
Book returns can be made in the outside book drops only. Books are removed daily, quarantined, cleaned and returned to the stacks on a set schedule.
The library will be open to the public from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, with a limit of 25 individuals in the building at one time. Entry/Exit doors will be kept open, weather permitting, to allow patrons to avoid physically touching them. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Unfortunately, the children’s area will be closed to the public. However, a “Grab and Go” shelf is available in the open side of the library. Parents or caregivers are encouraged to find items of interest to their children using the library catalog and a staff member will pull them from the shelves, or the staff will be happy to make selections for children. Just ask at the circulation desk!
A limited number of public access computers are available for use during operating hours. Copy and fax service are also available. Computers and work stations are cleaned after each use.
At this time, anyone entering the library is encouraged to wear a mask or other type of cover on their mouth and nose and wash their hands in the public restroom and/or use hand sanitizer, which will be provided. The staff will wear masks to protect patrons, and it is hoped that everyone who visits will wear one to protect each other and the staff. While the library staff looks forward to seeing everyone again, they want to encourage their patrons to stay safe and be well – we’re all in this together!
