COVID-19 Case at Yukon Animal Control Facility
The City of Yukon received test results today (Wednesday, September 30) that confirm an employee of the Yukon Animal Control Facility tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is currently recovering at home.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Animal Control Facility will be closed to the public until Monday, October 5, for sanitization. Adoptions are currently on pause until Monday as well. Don't worry, our staff is dedicated to making sure the animals will be well taken care of during this time. The City is requiring that the infected employee refrain from coming to work for at least 14 days.
The City is closely monitoring the situation and will take necessary actions to protect its residents and employees.
The City of Yukon has taken significant steps to protect clients and staff. These include.
- Mandatory mask wearing of employees that engage with the public, as well as all employees of the Yukon Community Center, Dale Robertson Center, Jackie Cooper Gym and Mabel C. Fry Public Library
- Touchless hand sanitization stations at every building
- Directing staff who are symptomatic of or having COVID-19 to stay home and self-quarantine
The safety and health of our residents and employees is our top priority. The City of Yukon is following medical protocols from national and local health authorities and has implemented staff guidelines in relation to social distancing and hygiene.
