COVID-19 Case at City Hall, Facility Closed to Public
The City of Yukon received test results today (Friday, October 16, 2020) that confirm an employee of City Hall tested positive for COVID-19. The employee was last at work on October 9 is currently recovering at home.
Out of an abundance of caution, City Hall will be closed to the public until further notice for sanitization. The Utility Billing drive-thru, located on the north end of the building, will still remain open for payments. The City is requiring that the infected employee refrain from coming to work for at least 14 days.
The City is closely monitoring the situation and will take necessary actions to protect its residents and employees.
The City of Yukon has taken significant steps to protect clients and staff. These include:
- Mandatory mask wearing of employees that engage with the public, as well as all employees of the Yukon Community Center, Dale Robertson Center, Jackie Cooper Gym and Mabel C. Fry Public Library
- Touchless hand sanitization stations at every building
- Directing staff who are symptomatic of or having COVID-19 to stay home and self-quarantine
The safety and health of our residents and employees is our top priority. The City of Yukon is following medical protocols from national and local health authorities and has implemented staff guidelines in relation to social distancing and hygiene.
