The City of Yukon announced today that one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19, and another is in self-quarantine out of precaution. The individual who tested positive is a pool employee at the Yukon Community Center and last reported to work on June 23. The employee in self-quarantine is a firefighter and last reported to work on July 1.

During their shift on June 23, the pool employee expressed that they felt ill and was sent home immediately. The employee had very limited contact with the public that day, and pool staff sanitized the area promptly.

Both the individual and employees that were in contact with them were encouraged to take a COVID-19 test. The City of Yukon received the official test results that the individual tested positive for COVID-19. No other employees have tested positive at this time. The infected employee is currently recovering at home.

The City is closely monitoring the situation and will take necessary actions to protect its residents and employees. As of now, City Splash Pool is still open.

A Yukon firefighter alerted the City that a family member had tested positive for COVID-19. The individual is under self-quarantine and has been tested for the virus. The City has not received the official test results at this time.

The City of Yukon has taken significant steps to protect clients and staff. These include.

-       Mandatory mask wearing of employees that engage with the public, as well as all employees of the Yukon Community Center, Dale Robertson Center, Jackie Cooper Gym and Mabel C. Fry Public Library
-       Touchless hand sanitization stations at every building
-       Limiting visitors in City offices
-       Directing staff who are symptomatic of or having COVID-19 to stay home and self-quarantine

The safety and health of our residents and employees is our top priority. The City of Yukon is following medical protocols from national and local health authorities and has implemented staff guidelines in relation to social distancing and hygiene.
