Parks & Recreation - Therapeutic Recreation

The Yukon Parks and Recreation Department believes that recreation should be an important aspect in the lives' of all people. Therapeutic recreation is our attempt to appease the aforementioned belief and to offer recreation opportunities to every member of our community.

The Spirit League is a sport league that offers a variety of sporting activities for individuals of all ages with special needs in the metro area.


Spirit League Baseball
Location: Taylor Park - 401 N. 11th St.
Time: Tuesday Evenings
Date: April through June

We believe the love of baseball can be shared among all people. Through easy and fun play, Spirit League Baseball gives every player an opportunity to participate. Bats, balls, gloves, and all other equipment are provided for the participants of the league. Spirit League shirts are required for all baseball players. Participants are welcome to wear a previous year's shirt or purchase a new one. New team shirts are $10 each.

Spirit League Basketball
Location: Jackie Cooper Gymnasium - 1024 E. Main St.
Time: Tuesday Evenings

Basketball is a vigorous sport that requires participants to be very physically active in the standard game. However, many adaptions can be made to allow all participants to be involved. The sport is a great source of exercise and an excellent group activity. The $10 registration fee is all that is required of participants. Jerseys and officials are provided. No score is kept and the goals are lowered.

Spirit League Bowling
Location: Bronco Bowl - 133 N. Mustang Rd.
Time: Tuesday Evenings
Date: March

Bowling is a recreational sport enjoyed by many people. There exists a wide array of adaptive equipment that makes this sport fun for all. Wholesome fun is the aim of this bowling program. Games are bowled at Bronco Bowl in Mustang, Oklahoma. Shoes and bowling balls are included in the registration fee. 2 games a night.

Spirit League Indoor Soccer
Location: Jackie Cooper Gymnasium  - 1024 E. Main St.
Time: Tuesday Evenings
Date: September through October

We approach indoor soccer with a community mindset. We play games in a way that is accommodating to all people. Shin guards are encouraged for all players. Athletics shoes with non-marking soles are best; cleats are not allowed. Soccer balls, nets, jerseys, and all other equipment are provided.

Spirit League Kayaking & Swimming Events
Location: City Splash - 2200 S. Holly Ave.
Time: 7:00 p.m. 
Date: Tuesday, June 28 & Tuesday, July 26

The Spirit League Kayaking and Swimming Events are for Spirit League participants and their families. All Spirit League participants are encouraged to join the party at City Splash. The events will take place sometime in the summer. Through swimming and kayaking, fun will abound!
