Yukon Mayor’s Christmas Party and Essay Contest for Kids will be Saturday, December 4, at the Robertson Activity Center, Hwy 66 & Mustang Road. The City of Yukon Parks & Recreation Department and Mayor Shelli Selby are encouraging all Yukon elementary students to participate in both the Mayor’s Essay Contest and the Major’s Christmas Party
The Essay Contest will start at 9:30. The subject for the essay is “What Christmas Means to Me” The top 3 winners in each division will be announced and have a chance to read their essay to the crowd. Division I will consist of those in grades K-3rd and division II for those in grade 4-6th. The event will be held inside the Robertson Activity Center, Highway 66 and Yukon Parkway. The FREE contest is open to all Yukon students in grades 1st through 6th. Yukon’s Friends of the Park will be awarding trophies for the top three entries. All participants will be recognized and receive a certificate from Mayor Selby. Please include the student’s name, grade, phone number, email, school, and teacher on each essay. All essays can be turned into or mailed to the Parks & Recreation Office, 532 W. Main, by 5:00 PM on Monday, November 29th.
Immediately following the Essay Contest will be the Christmas Party from 10:00 to Noon. This is designed to be a come and go event. Lots of special holiday guests are scheduled to attend. You can expect snacks, crafts, music, letters to Santa, and fun Christmas themed games. For information, call 405-350-8937.
