Walk Through a Magical Winter Wonderland at Christmas in the Park
Christmas in the Park, Oklahoma’s premiere tour of over 4 million lights illuminating three interconnecting parks of 100 lavishly decorated acres, is even more spectacular when one enjoys a walking tour of the lights.
There are 2.2 miles of walking trails through the parks that offer a unique self-paced tour of the decorations. Walkers can view at their leisure over 4 million twinkling lights, 450 one-of-a-kind Christmas light displays and eleven lavishly decorated Christmas houses. The lights reflect beautifully off of the water of the five ponds in the parks. Walkers who plan to walk in Chisholm Trail Park, as well as those who want to visit Santa, are encouraged to park in the Oklahoma Parking Lot, located on the north end of Chisholm Trail Park. Those who want to walk in City Park are encouraged to park in front of the Yukon Community Center, 2200 S. Holly Ave.
New this year, stop by several “selfie stations” scattered throughout the parks. These festive stations are a great backdrop for a family photo or your next profile picture. Be sure to tag the City of Yukon in your pictures! Various costumed Christmas characters are often in the parks and are happy to pose for photos.
If you plan to pop the question, Christmas in the Park features a “Will You Marry Me?” area that is available to couples who plan to tie the knot. A giant heart of red LED lights surrounds white letters that spell out “Will You Marry Me?”. It measures 16 feet tall and 12 feet wide and is nestled amongst countless twinkling lights. Couples can park their car, walk to the sign area and, at the opportune time, a park attendant will flip the switch so the proposer can pop the question! For more information and to use the sign, contact Jason Worden at 405-350-8940.
Christmas in the Park opens from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly through New Year’s Eve. The decorated parks include Yukon City Park, 2200 S Holly, Freedom Trail Playground at 2101 S Holly, and Chisholm Trail Park, 500 W Vandament. Admission is free and donations, which help fund the annual event, are merrily accepted at Chisholm Trail and City Parks.
