Kringle Karnival Returns to Chisholm Trail Park Nov. 21
The Kringle Karnival has long been a Christmas tradition for Yukon youngsters, and Yukon Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce that it is returning to Chisholm Trail Park on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Karnival is located at the north end of Chisholm Trail Park, 500 W. Vandament. Admission, as always, is FREE!
The event coincides with the grand opening of the Christmas in the Park drive-through Christmas lights tour, which starts at 6:00 p.m.
The Irv Wagner Brass Ensemble provides festive music, while Chester the Clown walks around entertaining the young and young-at-heart! Holiday-themed games and crafts return, with special reindeer food.
Christmas in the Park opens at 6 p.m. on Nov. 21, then is open 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly until New Year’s Eve. The tour features 100 acres of three interconnected city parks that are decorated top to bottom with 4.5 million Christmas lights and over 500 one-of-a-kind displays. The parks are Yukon City Park, Chisholm Trail Park and Freedom Trail. Admission is free and donations, which help fund the tour, are merrily accepted.
Also planned for November 21 is the Chill Your Cheeks 5K Run, presented by Academy Sports and Outdoors, which begins at 5:00 p.m. at Chisholm Trail Park. It is a certified course sanctioned USATF Oklahoma. More than 400 runners are expected at the festive race this year. Runners follow a course that takes them along area streets and ultimately through the beautiful illuminated Christmas in the Park lights while Christmas music is played. Registration is available online at www.yukonok.gov/catalog or contact Tyler Kilmer at 405-350-8920 or [email protected].
Other sponsors for Chill Your Cheeks are Banc First, Optimist Sports Club, McBride Clinic, and Bison Law Firm. Also our festival friends include Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary, Yanda & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Spanish Cove, and Integris Canadian Valley Hospital.
The Jingle Walk begins at 5:30 p.m. at Chisholm Trail Park. It is a half mile fun walk that travels through Chisholm Trail Park’s millions of glowing Christmas lights. On-site registration begins at 3:00 p.m., and the event is free. All participants in the Jingle Walk will receive a festive jingle bell bracelet. For details, contact Noah Truitt at [email protected] or 350-8920.
